Good morning! Welcome to the new Whitefish Lake (Atikameg) community web page! It's been quite some time since we had a site up and running, so it may be a little while longer until everything is working smoothly on the site, along with it not appearing so bland. With that being said, what we have available will hopefully give you a good idea on what we want this site to look and feel like.

For the time being, I would like to share some pictures from the recent opening of the cultural camp. This will act as a test for the blog and news section of the site and also an attempt to connect the site to our Facebook page. If you see this post on Facebook, that's great, that means it worked. If not, then looks like I still need to work on some functions o the site.

With that being said, here are the pictures from that opening. Please note that, due to privacy concerns, individuals may request their picture be removed. Please note that pictures taken in the public sphere are excluded and only pictures where that individual is the main focus of the picture will be considered for removal. (I.E: a large group photo during treaty days will not be removed if any individual is in them, as this would be considered in the public sphere).

The opening, sadly, was a bit chilly. Regardless, everyone was all smiles. It was a good time to have a nice campfire going.

Here, we have some community members enjoying the inside of these cabins by the lake.

The outside of the cabin. Well built and beautiful, perfect for the outdoors.

As time went on, more and more people showed up for the grand opening of the cultural camp.

It wasn't just campfire food that was enjoyed. The camp also has it's own kitchen, fully stocked. You can enjoy a nice full and warm meal.

A second picture showing what was available for the visitors for the day.

A nice view of the outside of the visitor cabins. Each one is fitted with bedding and stoves, perfect for anyone spending time in this nice location.

The inside of the cabins. Nice and cozy.

Another beautiful cabin.

Next, a view of the surrounding lake and forest. After some work by community workers, the area has been cleaned and well kempt.

There is also a dock here as well, going towards the lake.

A closer look at the dock. Already comes complete with a boat. Perfect for fishing as well!

Even this late into the season, some visitors decided to stay a bit longer to enjoy the cultural camp.

After dinner, it was time to draw for some prizes for the visitors.

Here, we have some lucky winners:
